Surveying with OrthoGraph is easy, watch the video:Although OrthoGraph is a professional tool for all architects, building surveyors and facility managers, creating drawings is merely “child’s play”. If you are just renovating an apartment, planning a move to a new home, or if you only want to see whether your new furniture will fit into a room, you can create an accurate drawing in minutes. No need to learn difficult CAD software: every movement is simple, fast and natural. Check the OrthoGraph 1st Steps Guide on Prezi.com or on YouTube
OrthoGraph is the only CAD application for the iPad that lets users sketch and then create a survey for the production of detailed floor plans with continuous graphic feedback on the fly. The unique approach of OrthoGraph is first to build up a hierarchical structure of building elements (land-plots, stories, rooms and room parts), and then each building element can be first drawn, just like using a pen and paper. Afterwards, linked to the survey you can adjust the walls and corners based on the measured data. This way creating a floor plan takes only few minutes, and the result is a complete building survey with, detailed reports on the rooms including calculated areas or window surface, etc. OrthoGraph is scalable from one room to a group of facilities:
OrthoGraph Architect integrates Dropbox and Box for saving projects into JPG/PNG, fully BIM compatible IFC or native OrthoGraph format. If you decide, you can send the survey results also directly via e-mail, but then take care of the file sizes (PDF files can get pretty large). If you don't want to base on the BIM format, or you want to have standard CAD formats, then OrthoGraph's native format is compatible with the following converters:
Although OrthoGraph creates professional IFC (2x3 format) files, which contain 3D drawing data with properties (excluding objects yet), the native CAD converters provide more. E.g. the ArchiCAD converter generates the full 3D BIM model with walls, doors, windows, objects and all their properties (if set up properly) as a real BIM CAD model. The result is not just a bunch of drawing elements, but a real, usable 3D model even including stories and wall connections. If you wish, then you can simply export this model from ArchiCAD back to use with BIMx, to simply watch it as rendered model back on your iPad. The process is very simple and fast. For more details please visit the OrthoGraph CAD Connection details website OrthoGraph doesn't print or save these formats from the iPad directly. The PDF output is a roombook with a summary section with the floorplan and main data, and sections for each location including floorplan of the relevant room, its properties and the objects contained.
